Global Trade Association Launches New Certification Standard for Digital Trade Companies
The Global Trade Association has announced a comprehensive new certification standard specifically designed for digitally-native trading companies, addressing the unique operational and compliance requirements of technology-enabled trade intermediaries.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Global Trade Association today announced the launch of its Digital Trade Company Certification Standard (DTCCS), a comprehensive framework designed to establish baseline requirements for technology-enabled trading companies operating across international markets.
The new standard addresses a growing gap in the certification landscape, where existing frameworks were developed primarily for traditional brick-and-mortar trading operations and do not adequately address the compliance, operational, and governance requirements of digitally-native intermediaries.
Key requirements under DTCCS include: robust cybersecurity frameworks meeting ISO 27001 standards; transparent algorithmic trading disclosures for companies using automated matching or pricing systems; enhanced due diligence requirements for counterparties onboarded through digital channels; and clear segregation of client funds from operational capital.
"The digitalisation of trade has created enormous efficiency gains, but it has also created new risks that existing frameworks were not designed to address," said Association Director General Marcus Lindqvist. "DTCCS provides a credible, globally-recognised standard that gives buyers confidence when working with digital-first trading companies."
Certification applications are open from today, with an initial cohort of assessments scheduled for the third quarter. The Association expects to award the first DTCCS certifications by year-end.
